The Palmetto State Teachers Association (PSTA) surprised FSD5 Teacher of the Year, Brittany Carter, on Tuesday, February 28 by presenting her with a wall banner in recognition of her achievement of being named FSD5 District Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Mrs. Carter is a 2007 graduate of Johnsonville High School.  She received a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Charleston Southern University, Masters of Music Education from the University of Florida, and Masters of Leadership from Coastal Carolina University.  She has also earned her National Board Certification. Mrs. Carter taught middle school music, chorus, show choir and drama at Rosemary Middle School prior to coming to Florence District 5. Since her time in FSD5, she taught at Johnsonville Elementary School for one year, and she currently teaches music at Johnsonville Middle School and chorus at Johnsonville High School.
